Over the past ten seasons, PICT has presented 36 main-stage productions including 5 American Premieres, 2 world premieres, and 2 successful international tours. PICT has produced seldom seen
classical works by Alexander Ostrovsky (Too Clever by Half), John Webster (The White Devil), George Farquhar (The Constant Couple) and Samuel Beckett (First Love), often in Pittsburgh premieres. In addition, the company has introduced Western Pennsylvania audiences to and created ongoing relationships with major modern Irish writers Brian Friel (Translations, Faith Healer, Aristocrats), Marina Carr (Portia Coughlan), Tom Murphy (The Gigli Concert), and Thomas Kilroy (The Seagull, U.S. Premiere, Henry, World Premiere). In 2002, the company’s production of Brian Friel’s Faith Healer played 13 venues in Ireland and Northern Ireland, the organization’s first international tour. PICT traveled to Ireland again in 2003 with its production of Shaw’s Major Barbara, playing to sold out houses at the prestigious Galway Arts Festival and receiving stellar reviews at the Pavilion Theatre in Dublin.
2006 marked another banner season for PICT – the highlight being BeckettFest, all 19 of Samuel Beckett’s stage plays performed by a repertory company of just 10 actors. PICT’s Endgame, directed by the noted Polish Director Tadeusz Bradecki and starring PICT Associate Artists Larry John Meyers and Simon Bradbury was named Best Production of the year by the critics of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and BeckettFest was named Theatrical Event of the Year by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.
